We buy our vanilla through a small, family-run importer who works directly with independent growers. When vanilla prices rocketed a few years back, plenty of producers quietly swapped the real thing for cheaper “vanilla flavour.” We didn’t — and we won’t. Not only because you can taste the difference, but because the Madagascan vanilla trade has long been affected by theft and corruption. That genuinely saddens us.

By choosing an independent supply chain that supports small growers, we do our best to avoid feeding the gangs that try to control the market. It’s our small way of backing the people who grow vanilla with care, and of standing for a future where everyone can live and work in peace and safety.
